Collecting the awardWollaton-based accountants, Coalesco, were announced as winners of the national British Accountancy Awards 2011 in the Independent firm of the Year – Midlands category at a prestigious awards dinner.  We were the only Nottingham accountants short-listed on that category and the only one that couldn’t fill a table of 10 at the dinner – it just goes to show that bigger is not always better and that a small accountancy firm can achieve some powerful results.

Entrants for the award were assessed not only on their own business performance but also on the measurable results that they have been able to achieve for their clients.  As providers of accountancy, tax, and management accounting services we were able to demonstrate how we help clients improve their performance through a wide range of means including costing and pricing reviews, accessing R&D tax credits, and advising on tax arrangements.

The Awards Judges said, “Coalesco have experienced growth, have a jargon free way of explaining themselves and a terrific emphasis on people.  Their success in pushing clients to achieve their goals is impressive and they have invested in their wider community.  They captured the imagination and showed how a small firm can stretch strategy.”

Founder and director of Coalesco, Linda Frier, says “As a small team of accountancy experts with real-world experience in industry, we’re well placed to give the pragmatic advice that our clients appreciate.  We have a Client Charter setting out the promises we make – and keep – for our clients and we’re delighted that this approach has been instrumental in our winning this award.  We also have our Client Guarantee – we set fixed fees and if the client isn’t happy with our service, they only pay what they think it’s worth, although no one has yet taken it up.”
